How to Set Up Your Merchant Account and Make Sales via Transfer
This step-by-step guide walks you through setting up your merchant account on the Timart Business App, making sales, and verifying transfer payments to ensure your business is protected from fraud.
How to Set Up Your Merchant Account and Make Sales via Transfer
Step One: Accessing POS Settings
Before you can receive payments, you need to configure your merchant account within the app.
-Open the Timart Business App and tap the Menu icon (three horizontal lines) in the top-left corner.
-Hover over POS Integration and select Add POS Settings from the dropdown menu.
-Tap Proceed and then Continue through the introductory screens.
Step Two: Generating Your Merchant Account Number
You can choose to use the full Timart Smart POS device or simply generate a virtual account number for transfers.
-Select Generate Account Number (if you do not yet have the physical POS device).
-Verification: Enter your First Name, Last Name, BVN, NIN, and Date of Birth.
-Review your information and tap Submit.
-Link Your Bank: Enter the bank details where you want your confirmed payments to be settled. Select your bank, input your account number, and tap Submit.
Step Three: Activating Transaction Verification
To prevent fake transfers, you must ensure verification is active.
-Go back to Menu > POS Integration > POS Settings.
-Toggle Transaction Verification to ON.
-Ensure both Transfer and Card Payment options are checked.
-Tap Raven (or your designated provider) to view and copy your dedicated Merchant Account Number.
Step Four: Making a Sale via Transfer
When a customer is ready to buy:
-Tap Sales on your dashboard and select the products for the cart.
-Tap Go to Payment and choose Transfer.
-Tap Pay and select Yes on the confirmation message.
-Ask the customer to transfer the exact total to your Merchant Account Number.
Step Five: Verifying and Attaching the Payment
This is the most critical step to avoid "fake alerts" or edited screenshots.
-Once the customer sends the money, wait for your standard bank credit alert.
-On the Timart app, tap Refresh to load your recent bank transactions.
-Find and select the transaction that matches the exact amount of the sale.
-Tap Attach to Transaction.
The sale is now verified and closed securely.
Step Six: Printing or Exporting the Receipt
After the sale is confirmed, you can provide the customer with a professional receipt.
- If a printer is connected, the receipt will print automatically.
- To do it manually, tap the transaction and select Get Receipt.
Choose your preferred format:
- Print Receipt (for physical copies).
- Export as PDF.
- Export as Image (ideal for sending via WhatsApp)
